UNICEF is the United National Children’s Fund. UNICEF works in more than 100 countries around the world to improve water and sanitation services, and basic hygiene practices. UNICEF uses a human rights approach and works with government and other partners to create conditions for change – or enabling environments – to ensure the effectiveness and sustainability of all water, sanitation and hygiene (WASH) programmes. At the local level UNICEF works in partnership with communities in planning, implementing and maintaining water and sanitation systems.
UNICEF has been a long-standing collaborator and member of the RWSN Executive Steering Committee. For over ten years, they have played a central role in developing and promoting the RWSN ‘Code of Practice for Cost Effective Boreholes’. and supporting manual drilling: UNICEF – Groundwater Development
